First Step by Triple J T

The winner of the 2019 Queensland Government Economy and Jobs State GovHack challenge First Step, by Triple J T, proposes a website where users can compare the benefits and challenges of relocating to a regional area.

This project proposes a web platform where users can select from several preferences to find regional areas that are best suited to their requirements.  Housing and rental affordability, transportation, environment and health, crime, career opportunity, education and other preferences can be finetuned to return a list of locations that would be best suited to relocate to.

The Data

First Step proposed the use of the following datasets:

• Index of retail prices in Queensland regional centres
• Median Rent by Statistical Area
• ABS Census of Population and Housing 2016

The Benefits

First Steps helps to compare the pros and cons of living in different areas.  This can help users, looking to move location, find somewhere that better suits their requirements.
